My favorite animated – or claymated, which sounds too much like a creepy American Idol fan website – short from back in the day is now free on the interwebs!  Check out Not Without My Handbag for some serious awesomeness…

They’re the cathedrals of our time, someone said. Not me.

hoping i’ll turn away so he can escape through the gap in the fence, originally uploaded by lynnith.

Lots of time spent lately in the backyard with the dog; he’s been teaching me proper napping technique. Fortunately, it looks like our early summer is coming to an end, which means I’ve got time to prepare & pack & all that nonsense. I have a crafty plan to assuage my guilt for checking two bags – leaving enough room in the bigger one for my carry-on backpack, so I look more accomplished when I land. Half of traveling is comparing your packing abilities with the other travelers and I hate to lose!

The last 24 hours have been consumed by digital files. I’ve been ripping all my DVDs, cleaning up my music collection, & getting the laptop all set. It’s all colossally boring, & I’m passing the savings on to you…

Oh, yeah, and I went to Bend for a few days with the family this week, and DROVE A CAR.  Multiple times.  I know, shock, horror, etc.

It’s impossible for demon on phone to say “Jesus Christ came in the flesh”

Seattle had a “heat wave” this week, which means I picked the best week ever to be unemployed (or funemployed as the SF Weekly would have it).  I decided against a list of things to do before I leave – instead, I’m just taking a bunch of walks.  So far, I’ve walked to the International District, Madison Park, Sculpture Park (via a pint at Kells), Eastlake, and Pike Place.  On the list: U Village (today!), the waterfront/West Seattle water taxi, and most ambitiously, Green Lake.  And I’m not just getting some nice walks in – I’m also learning important Life Lessons!

In other news, my 4 month Australia visa finally came thru yesterday.  It’s amazing how much easier it is to get all the admin stuff done this time around – I’ve already applied for my tax number online, and in the next couple weeks I’ll have my local bank account and mobile phone all squared away too.  Not much left to do!
